Cincinnati Reds Sign Pitcher After Nine Years In Mexican League

Headed to Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Reds have signed starter Wilmer Rios to a minor-league contract.

Rios has spent nine seasons pitching in the Mexican League.

In addition, he's coming off of an impressive 13-start showing in the Mexican League this offseason.

During his time in the Mexican League, the twenty-eight-year-old compiled a 4.18 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 184 strikeouts across 251.2 innings of work.

Rios will likely head to Double-A Chattanooga where he will give the Reds some extra upper-level starting pitching depth.

It's an interesting low-risk signing by the Reds.
