Texas Rangers Sign Speedy Outfielder

Headed to Texas.

The Texas Rangers have signed outfielder Travis Jankowski to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Jankowski appeared in 43 games with the New York Mets last season, one with the Seattle Mariners, posting a .164/.281/.164 triple-slash line, with two RBIs, three stolen bases and 11 runs scored.

The thirty-one-year-old is an excellent base-runner, 72-for-95 stealing bases in the majors, and a capable outfielder, but that's about it.

For his major-league career, spanning eight seasons and 470 games, Jankowski holds a .236 batting average, with nine home runs, 54 RBIs, 72 stolen bases and 159 runs scored.

He'll attempt to win a spot on the Rangers' Opening Day roster with a strong showing this spring.
