Padres Sign Pitcher; Spent Last Two Seasons Pitching In Japan

Returning to the MLB.

The San Diego Padres have signed pitcher Angel Sanchez to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

Sanchez last appeared in the majors in 2017 and has spent the last two seasons with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. The right-handed pitcher also spent a few years in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Over 12.1 career innings pitched in the majors, the thirty-three-year-old holds a brutal 8.76 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts.

Sanchez will have a chance to make the Padres' Opening Day roster and will, regardless, provide them with some extra organizational relief depth.
