MLB Rumors: New York Mets Making Push for Reliever

According to Jon Heyman, free-agent reliever Andrew Chafin is starting to get a lot of buzz on the open market, and the New York Mets specifically are making a push to sign him.

The Mets already signed Tommy Pham today (Jan. 18), and now it appears that they are not done adding free agents. Their bullpen could use a jolt, and adding a veteran like Chafin would certainly provide them with just that. After all, he has grown a reputation for being a very reliable reliever, and that is exactly what the Mets need if they hope to make a push for the World Series this year.

Chafin is coming off of a strong 2022 season with the Detroit Tigers. In 64 appearances, he had a 2-3 record to go along with a 2.83 ERA. Overall, it was another very good year from him. Let's see if the Mets end up signing him from here.
