Boston Red Sox Sign Left-Handed Pitcher

The Boston Red Sox continue to stockpile left-handed arms.

The Red Sox have signed pitcher Matt Dermody to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Dermody has made just two appearances in the majors since the 2017 season. He finished the 2022 season in Korea where he compiled a 4.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts over 39.2 innings of work with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization.

For his major-league career, the thirty-two-year-old holds a 5.60 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts over 27.1 innings of work. He's spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Cubs.

Dermody will compete for a spot in the Red Sox' Opening Day bullpen.
