Atlanta Braves Sign Pitcher

The Atlanta Braves add to their depth.

The Braves have signed pitcher Ty Tice to a minor league contract.

Tice last pitched in the majors during the 2021 season when he made five relief appearances, split between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Braves, posting a 4.50 ERA and six strikeouts.

The twenty-six-year-old spent the entire past season with Triple-A Reno, the Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate, where he recorded an ugly 6.45 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 22.1 innings of work. He made 22 relief appearances, converted one save and held a 1-2 record.

Tice is a former 16th-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2017 MLB Draft.

The deal doesn't include an invite to spring training, so he'll likely be spending most of the season in the upper minors.
