Texas Rangers Designate Pitcher for Assignment

The Texas Rangers have designated Nick Mears for assignment.

Mears was claimed off of waivers by the Rangers from the Pittsburgh Pirates less than a week ago, but now he has already lost his spot on their 40-man roster. This decision was due to the Rangers needing to free up a roster spot for recently-signed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.

It will be intriguing to see if a team decides to either acquire or claim Mears off of waivers from here. In 36 career MLB games, he has a 1-0 record and 4.75 ERA.
