He's the top prospect in the Colorado Rockies organization.

Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that Ezequiel Tovar is ''tracking'' towards being the team's Opening Day shortstop next season.

Tovar impressed in his promotion to the majors at the end of last season, recording seven hits and a home run over nine games. He now has the opportunity, and is poised to become the team's new starting shortstop.

In the minors last season, the twenty-one-year-old slashed a fantastic .319/.387/.540, with 14 home runs, 49 RBIs, 17 stolen bases and 42 runs scored across 71 games.

Tovar is the 27th-ranked prospect in all of baseball.
