Philadelphia Phillies Sign Infielder

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Nick Podkul to a minor league contract.

Podkul spent all of last season with Triple-A Buffalo. In 60 games with the club, he had five home runs, 24 RBIs, and a .211 batting average. Overall, it was a fairly underwhelming season for the infielder, but now he will be aiming to change that with the Phillies organization from here.

Podkul could get some consideration as a utility option for the Phillies if he impresses at Spring Training. After all, he is of capable of playing second base, first base, and third base. Alas, let's see if he can make the squad from here.
