Oakland Athletics Designate Outfielder for Assignment

The Oakland A's have designated Cody Thomas for assignment.

Thomas appeared in his first 10 MLB games this past season with Oakland, where he had a .267 batting average in 30 at-bats. Overall, he showed decent promise at the plate when called upon, but it was not enough for the 6-foot-4 outfielder to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster.

Due to this DFA, Thomas will be hitting the waiver wire, and teams around the league will have the chance to claim him. Time will tell what happens on that front, but given his decent start to his career, it seems possible that he could find a new home.
