New York Mets Sign Veteran Pitcher

The New York Mets are in win-now mode. As a result, they have been major spenders this offseason, and that trend is only continuing. This time the Mets have inked David Robertson to a one-year, $10 million contract.

After missing all of the 2020 season and then sporting a 4.50 ERA in 12 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021, Robertson had a major bounce-back campaign this past season. In 58 games between the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies, the 37-year-old had a 4-3 record, 2.40 ERA, and 20 saves. As a result, he landed this excellent one-year deal to be a Met.

Robertson will provide the Mets with a strong setup man for their bullpen. We will have to wait and see if he can keep up this excellence in the Big Apple from here.
