MLB Rumors: Los Angeles Angels Made Big Push for Catcher

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Los Angeles Angels made a major push for Willson Contreras and even offered him a bigger contract than the St. Louis Cardinals. Yet, the veteran catcher still ended up signing with the latter, of course.

It is clear that the Angels are trying to move past mediocrity, as they already have brought in Tyler Anderson, Carlos Estevez, Gio Urshela, and Hunter Renfroe this offseason. Yet, they also wanted an All-Star catcher in Contreras, but they, unfortunately, fell short on that front.

With this news, we should expect to see the Angels continue to try to make moves this offseason. It will be intriguing to see if they end up trying to sign another free-agent catcher. Perhaps Christian Vazquez would make sense for them?
