MLB Rumors: Giants No Longer Pursuing Veteran Pitcher

The San Francisco Giants have made their first notable addition to their rotation, as Sean Manaea is heading there. Yet, this signing does change the Giants' offseason plans a bit, as they are no longer pursuing Chris Bassitt, according to Susan Slusser.

It's clear that the Giants are satisfied enough with their rotation now. Still, Bassitt would have been a big addition to their group if signed. In 30 games last season with the New York Mets, the 6-foot-5 right had a 15-9 record to go along with a 3.42 ERA.

Given Bassitt's big year, it is likely that he is asking for a long-term and expensive contract, so perhaps that is another reason why the Giants are not interested in inking him to a deal.
