MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox Make Infielder Available

The Boston Red Sox are continuing to scour the free agent market, and are still engaged with Xander Bogaerts, but now they appear to be entering the trade market as well. They have made first baseman Bobby Dalbec available.

Tampa Bay is a team with a need for a first baseman, and have already expressed interest in the 27-year-old.

Dalbec has untapped power potential, and he gave them a taste of it in 2021, blasting 25 round-trippers, while driving in 78 and posting a .792 OPS. But he regressed this past season, as he hit .215 with a .652 OPS.

His career marks of .232 with a .754 OPS have left the Sox looking for other solutions at first base, and they even brought in the offensively-challenged Eric Hosmer at the trade deadline.

As noted by Boston Globe reporter Pete Abraham, perhaps a change of scenery can help Dalbec unlock his potential.
