Former Top Pitching Prospect Signs In Japan

Headed overseas.

Pitcher Jharel Cotton has signed with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Cotton split the past season with the San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins, posting a respectable 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts over 43 innings of work.

Once a former top pitching prospect, the thirty-year-old veteran will head overseas and attempt to improve his stock before likely returning to North America.

For his major league career, Cotton holds a 4.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 197 strikeouts across 232 innings of work. He's spent time with the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Twins and the Giants.
