Chicago Cubs Designate Pitcher for Assignment

The Chicago Cubs have designated Erich Uelmen for assignment.

Uelmen appeared in 25 games last season for the Chicago Cubs. During them, he put together a 2-1 record to go along with a 4.67 ERA. Overall, it was a year of mixed results for the 26-year-old righty, and now he has lost his spot on the Cubs' 40-man roster.

Teams looking to add to their pitching depth could consider the idea of claiming Uelmen off of waivers or trading for him. We will have to wait and see if that does in fact come to fruition from here.
