Boston Red Sox Sign Pitcher

The Boston Red Sox have signed Chris Martin to a two-year, $17.5 million contract.

Martin spent this past season split between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers, where he put together a 4-1 record to go along with a 3.05 ERA. Those are solid numbers, but it is important to note that he was on fire after becoming a Dodger, as he sported a 1.46 ERA in 26 appearances for them. This outstanding pitching at the end of the year led Boston to sign him to this big deal.

It will be intriguing to see if this kind of pitching will become the norm with Martin from here. His 4.31 ERA in 34 games with the Cubs before the move to LA is a bit concerning, but time will tell if he goes back to that form in Boston.
