Yankees No. 1 Ranked Prospect To Compete For Starting Shortstop Role In 2023

He's the number-one ranked prospect in the New York Yankees organization.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters on Tuesday that top prospect Anthony Volpe will compete to be the club's starting shortstop in 2023.
Cashman said that the twenty-one-year-old is close to making an impact in the Bronx.

This past season, split between Double-A and Triple-A, Volpe slashed .249/.342/.460, with 21 home runs, 65 RBIs, 50 stolen bases and 86 runs scored.

He definitely has all the tools to be an impact player at the major league level and his development has been impressively fast.

Volpe was the Yankees' 1st-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.
