Twins Pick Up Starter's 2023 Option

They're bringing him back for the 2023 season.

The Minnesota Twins are picking up starter Sonny Gray's $12.5 million club option for the 2023 season.
A smart and obvious decision by the Twins.

Gray returns for a second season with the Twins after posting a strong 3.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 117 strikeouts over 119.2 innings of work in 2022. The thirty-two-year-old has been a very solid pitcher over his career, his only problem remains his ability to stay healthy. He hasn't made more than 30 starts since the 2019 season with the Cincinnati Reds.

Over his 10-year career, Gray holds a 3.56 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 1,338 strikeouts across 1,387 innings. He's spent time with the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Reds and the Twins.
