San Diego Padres Part Ways With Infielder

The San Diego Padres have rejected their $20 million option with Wil Myers, thus making him a free agent.

This is not surprising at all, as Myers was in the rumor mill over the last few seasons due to his expensive contract. Yet, nobody would bite on him, and now the Padres are letting him leave via free agency for nothing.

Myers will definitely get interest on the open market. Although he is not a star, he is an effective player to have around who can produce decent offense and defense. At a cheaper price, he's worth taking a chance on. Let's see where he goes from here.
