New York Mets Pitcher Rejects Qualifying Offer

Chris Bassitt has rejected his qualifying offer from the New York Mets. Instead, he will be looking for a multi-year deal on the open market from here.

Ultimately, this is not too surprising to hear, as this is Bassitt's chance to try to land a big contract. At 33 years old, he may not have the opportunity to land an expensive, long-term contract, after all. Now, there will be a plethora of teams interested in the 6-foot-5 righty, as he is one of the top pitchers on the free-agent market.

Bassitt was excellent in his lone season as a Met, as he had a 15-9 record to go along with a 3.42 ERA in 30 appearances. That kind of season and his solid overall resume will get him paid, so we will have to wait and see where he ends up from here.
