New York Mets Ace Officially Opts Out

Without any surprise, Jacob deGrom has opted out of his contract with the New York Mets. He is now a free agent.

deGrom opting out was expected, as it means that the ace will have the opportunity to earn an even bigger contract on the open market. Although he has been dominant, injury trouble has kept him out of action often over the last few years. Still, even with this being so, expect him to get a ton of offers on the free-agent market.

In 11 games this season with the Mets, deGrom sported a 5-4 record to go along with a 3.08 ERA. Where will the two-time Cy Young Award winner end up from here?
