Mariners Pitcher Elects Free Agency

He cleared outright waivers Wednesday.

Pitcher Ryan Borucki has elected free agency.
Boruck finished the 2022 season on the Seattle Mariners' injured list with a left forearm strain. The same injury prevented him from making any appearances after Aug. 8.

Borucki was claimed off waivers by the Mariners from the Toronto Blue Jays this past season and performed quite well, at first, for his new team before regressing.

The twenty-eight-year-old finished the season with a 5.68 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts over 25.1 innings.

The Mariners clearly weren't interested in bringing Borucki back on the 40-man roster and offering him a contract for the 2023 season. As a result, the left-handed pitcher will have to look elsewhere for a job this offseason and, likely, will have to settle for a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.
