Yankees Pitcher Elects Free Agency

He made five starts and seven appearances in the majors this season.

Pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez has elected free agency.
The thirty-year-old pitcher had been designated for assignment and sent outright to Triple-A in early October.

Now, he'll look for another team to play for on the open market this winter, where he will most likely have to settle for a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Gonzalez posted a 5.87 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 23 innings this season, split between the Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees.

Over his six-year career, Gonzalez holds a 5.66 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 170 strikeouts across 284.2 innings.
