Washington Nationals DH Finished in DC

Nelson Cruz's time with the Washington Nationals is coming to a close, as the club will decline their mutual option with the slugger, according to Talk Nats.

Cruz struggled during his lone season as a National, so perhaps this decision is one that we could have seen coming. After hitting 32 home runs in 2021 split between the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays, Cruz had just 10 home runs and a .234 batting average in 124 games with the Nationals.

Although it was a bad year for Cruz's standards, his impressive resume should certainly allow him to receive attention as a free agent - if he chooses to play in 2023, of course. We will have to wait and see what's next in store for the seven-time All-Star.
