Pirates Outright Catcher

He went unclaimed on waivers.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have sent catcher Jose Godoy outright to Triple-A Indianapolis after being designated for assignment and going unclaimed on waivers last week.
Godoy got into 10 major league games this past season, split between the Minnesota Twins and Pirates, slashing an ugly .050/.136/.050, with one RBI and three runs scored.

In total, Godoy has only played 26 games in the majors in his career.

In the minor leagues this season, the twenty-eight-year-old slashed just .227/.290/.654, with six home runs, 26 RBIs and 20 runs scored over 176 at-bats.

Godoy will likely compete for the Pirates backup catcher job in 2023.
