Giants Shut Down 2021 1st-Round Pick

Shutting him down.

The San Francisco Giants starter Will Bednar is being shut down from pitching in the Arizona Fall League with back tightness.
The Giants are taking the precautionary measure, which obviously makes sense at this point in the year.

Bednar was the first-round pick for the Giants back in the 2021 draft, taking the pitcher with the 14th overall selection.

The twenty-two-year-old is one of the organization's better prospects, ranking 13th in the Giants' system. This past season, at the Single-A level, Bednar posted a 4.19 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts over 43 innings and 12 starts.

Bednar should be good to go for spring training, and has a chance to make starts for the Giants at some point in the 2023 season.
