Giants Pitcher Elects Free Agency

He played with the San Francisco Giants and Minnesota Twins this season.

Pitcher Jharel Cotton has elected to become a free agent.
Cotton landed with the Giants on a waiver claim in September, but he was recently pushed off their 40-man and ultimately passed through waivers unclaimed. He was arbitration-eligible and was likely to be non-tendered anyway.

The thirty-year-old posted a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts over 43 innings this season split between the Giants and Twins.

Over his four-year career, Cotton holds a 4.50 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 197 strikeouts over 232 innings.
