Texas Rangers Sign Recently-Released Red Sox Catcher

With a reputation as a great chemistry and clubhouse guy, it didn't take long for former Boston Red Sox catcher Kevin Plawecki to find work after being shockingly DFA'd by Boston just a few days ago.

Rangers beat writers are reporting that Plawecki already has a locker in the Texas clubhouse ahead of tonight's game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Red Sox players were shocked and disappointed by the release of Plawecki, who was beloved in the clubhouse.

He'll now bring that team-building attitude to the Rangers.

Plawecki will take the roster spot of Nick Solak in Texas, who recently suffered a season-ending foot fracture.

With Texas losing Mitch Garver to injury much earlier in the season, Jonah Heim has been the Rangers' primary catcher with Sam Huff as the backup.

Plawecki has been with the Red Sox for the past three years, but after two strong seasons at the plate, has slumped this year, batting .217 with a .574 OPS in 61 games. But it's off the field that he seems to bring the most value.
