Rockies Place Infielder on Injured List

The Colorado Rockies are losing their versatile infielder.

The Rockies have placed infielder Jose Iglesias on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 05, with a right-hand contusion.

Iglesisas was pulled from the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds with a hand injury, which he appeared to suffer while swinging the bat.

An MRI exam turned up negative regarding structural damage in his hand, but he'll be given some extra time to rest and recover until the discomfort goes away.

The thirty-two-year-old leaves behind an impressive .300/.337/.392 slash, with three home runs, 47 RBIs, two stolen bases and 48 runs scored over 114 games in his Rockies season debut.

The Rockies signed Iglesias to a one-year, $5 million deal this past offseason, filling the void Trevor Story left behind.
