Rays Activate Pitcher; Has Not Pitched Since August 2020

He'll be making his first appearance in the majors since August 16, 2020.

The Tampa Bay Rays have activated pitcher Yonny Chirinos from the 60-day injured list.

It's a comeback story you love to see, as Chirinos has missed almost two seasons due to right elbow injuries. 

During his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham, Chirinos posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts across nine innings of work. He made three starts.

The twenty-eight-year-old holds a career ERA of 3.65, a 1.14 WHIP, and 199 strikeouts across 234 innings, over the span of three seasons. He's started 28 of the 47 games he's appeared in. 

Another big pitching boost for an already stacked Rays bullpen.
