Pirates Designate Two Pitchers for Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated two pitchers for assignment.

The Pirates have designated Tyler Beede and Dillon Peters for assignment.
Beede has been nothing special this season, as he has posted an underwhelming 5.14 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts over 61 innings. In 31 appearances, he's made five starts.

Beede is twice a former first-round pick, and will now, quite possibly, be starting the 2023 season with a new team, on the chance that he's claimed off waivers this weekend.

It's not the news he was looking for.

Pitcher Dillon Peters was returned from his rehab assignment, but only to be designated for assignment.

Peters had been dealing with elbow inflammation and, rather than returning to the Pirates organization, he'll instead be heading to the waiver wire. He's posted a 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 39 innings this season.
