Mets Call Up Speedy Outfielder to Replace Injured Rookie

Many fans expected top prospect Mark Vientos to get the call to replace injured Brett Baty.

However, the New York Mets are turning to Terrance Gore instead.
There's a good chance Gore would have been added to the Mets roster anyways on Thursday, given that the rosters expanded and he's a speedy and reliable defensive option off the bench.

Gore has not had a plate appearance in the major leagues since the 2019 season with the Kansas City Royals where he slashed .275/.362/.353, with one RBI and 13 stolen bases across 37 games.

In 70 at-bats at the minor league level this season, the thirty-one-year-old has hit for a .243 batting average, a solid .329 on-base percentage with five RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

It's always a good idea to have some extra speed and defense off the bench at this time of year, and Terrance Gore will provide that for the Mets down the stretch.
