Houston Astros Designate First Baseman For Assignment

The Houston Astros have designated Taylor Jones for assignment.

Jones has only appeared in one game for the Astros this season, where he went 0-for-1. Over the past three seasons, he has played in 43 games with the team in total, where he has three home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .234 batting average. Therefore, he has yet to make much of an impact at the major league level, so perhaps this DFA isn't all too surprising.

Jones has had a decent season in Triple-A, however, as he has 10 home runs to go along with a .252 batting. Perhaps this and his ability to play several positions (first base, third base, and left field) could make him an appealing target on the waiver wire. Time will tell if he finds a new home from here.
