Guardians Recall Starter; Option Pitcher

The Cleveland Guardians are in dire need of some rotation help, given the injuries to Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale, two key members of their rotation.

As a result, the club has recalled pitcher Konnor Pilkington from Triple-A Columbus.

Pitcher Xzavion Curry has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.

Pilkinton threw two scoreless innings Sunday against the Seattle Mariners, walking three and striking out one.

The Guardians still have not announced a starter for Wednesday's matchup against the Kansas City Royals and there was speculation that Pilkington might get that start but, because he was utilized out of the bullpen on Sunday, it's unlikely to happen.

The twenty-four-year-old has posted a solid 3.99 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 41 strikeouts over 47 innings with Cleveland this season. There's a good chance he sticks around in the majors for a while.
