D-Backs Select Infielder; DFA Pitcher

The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected the contract of infielder Wilmer Difo from Triple-A Reno.

The club has also designated pitcher Noe Ramirez for assignment.
Difo was signed to a minor league contract in March, and during his time in the minors he hit a .269 batting average, with seven home runs, 43 RBIs and four stolen bases over 283 at-bats.

The thirty-year old is a seven-year veteran, spending six seasons with the Washington Nationals and one season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He'll provide the Diamondbacks with some infield depth moving forward.

Ramirez was removed from the roster to make room for Difo. In 55 games this year with the D-Backs, Ramirez posted an underwhelming 5.22 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 51 strikeouts over 50 innings.

The thirty-two-year-old has enjoyed success in the past over his eight-year career, so there's a chance he generates some interest on the waiver wire.
