Cubs Place Rookie on Restricted List

He's expected to miss the club's entire weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Chicago Cubs have placed rookie Seiya Suzuki on the restricted list. Suzuki has been away from the club since last Saturday as he and his wife await the birth of their baby.

Suzuki has already exhausted his paternity leave, which is why he was transferred to the restricted list on Thursday.

He likely won't be back for the duration of the Cubs' weekend series.

The twenty-eight-year-old has had a very solid rookie season, slashing .263/.336/.433, with 13 home runs, 45 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 48 runs scored over 104 games played.
