Cubs Designate Pitcher for Assignment

The Chicago Cubs have designated pitcher Kervin Castro for assignment.

Castro has posted a brutal 10.22 ERA, 1.78 WHIP along with 11 strikeouts over 12 innings in the majors this season. That's not going to cut it in the major leagues. He's made 10 appearances between the San Francisco Giants and the Cubs.

In the minors this season, the twenty-three-year-old has registered a 5.19 ERA, a 1.70 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts across 34 innings. In 31 appearances, he holds a 1-4 record.

Given those numbers, it would not be surprising in the least to see Castro go unclaimed on waivers, and remain with the Cubs as organizational depth.
