Boston Red Sox Call Up Outfielder
The Boston Red Sox have called up Abraham Almonte to their major league roster.
Almonte immediately made his season debut for the Red Sox on Wednesday following the call-up, where he struck out. Although it wasn't how he wanted to start his tenure with the Red Sox, this appearance marked the 10th season in a row where he has played a game in the majors. That is a pretty cool accomplishment, and now he will be aiming to stick around in Boston from here.
With the Red Sox essentially out of the playoff race due to their epic collapse, there's no harm in them taking a chance on Almonte. If he impresses, perhaps it could even lead to them bringing him back in 2023.
In 441 career games, Almonte has 23 home runs, 116 RBIs, and a .234 batting average.
