Atlanta Braves Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Atlanta Braves have designated Jay Jackson for assignment.

Jackson is, unfortunately, the victim of circumstance with this DFA. Ozzie Albies was activated from the IL, so the Braves needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. This, in turn, made Jackson expendable, and now the 34-year-old will be hitting the waiver wire as a result of it.

Here's the thing, Jackson did well in his two appearances for the Braves this campaign. He did not surrender a run, but he also has not been on their major league roster for a bit. Yet, he has done well in Triple-A, too, as his 1.53 ERA shows effectively. All of this wasn't enough for him to stay on their 40-man roster. however.

Teams in need of some pitching depth could decide to give Jackson a shot. In 59 career MLB games, he has a 3-1 record and 4.21 ERA.
