Angels Designate Pitcher for Assignment

It's been a rough season for him.

Now, the Los Angeles Angels have designated pitcher Mike Mayers for assignment.
Mayers had allowed a whopping 18 runs across his last 16.1 innings of work with the Angels.

For the season, the thirty-year-old has posted a 5.68 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts over 50.2 innings. In 24 games, he's started three and holds a 1-1 record.

Mayers' time in the minors this season did not go so well either, as he registered an ugly 6.27 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts across 33 innings. He made eight starts and held an 0-3 record.

He'll head to the waiver wire and wait to see if another team claims his services.
