Yankees Option Pitcher

Following Sunday's game, the New York Yankees have optioned pitcher Luke Bard to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.
With closer Clay Holmes set to return from the injured list on Monday for the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels, the Yankees open a roster spot by optioning Bard.

The Yankees claimed Bard off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this month, and he's only made one appearance for them. On Sunday, Bard worked a 1-2-3 scoreless inning against the Oakland Athletics.

In eight appearances with the Rays earlier this year, the thirty-one-year-old posted a strong 1.93 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and eight strikeouts over 14 innings.

Bard should get another shot with the Yankees soon.
