Twins Make Flurry of Roster Moves

It's been a busy day for the Minnesota Twins.

The team placed outfielder Kyle Garlick on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to August 2, with a right ribcage contusion.

The team also activated starter Tyler Mahle, activated outfielder Gilberto Celestino from the paternity list and optioned pitcher Jovani Moran to Triple-A St Paul.

Garlick suffered his injury Monday night and wasn't progressing as quickly as the team hoped he would, causing him to hit the injured list. There's a good chance the outfielder returns when first eligible next weekend. The thirty-year-old has been having a solid season, playing in 51 games and hitting .257/.319/.514, with eight home runs and 17 RBIs.

Celestino returns to the Twins after welcoming a baby girl with his wife earlier in the week. The twenty-three-year-old is batting .270/.328/.325, with nine RBIs in 69 games played.

Pitcher Jovani Moran was sent down to Triple-A to make room for recently-acquired Tyler Mahle. The twenty-five-year-old has been fantastic for the Twins this season, hurling a 1.93 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts over 21 innings. He should be back up with the club soon.
