This Cardinals-Yankees Trade is Working Out REALLY Well for One Team So Far

The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees had fans scratching their heads on trade deadline day when the two teams struck a deal, sending starter Jordan Montgomery to St. Louis with outfielder Harrison Bader going the opposite way.

Cardinals fans should be ecstatic about the trade right now, however.

The Cardinals already knew they were getting a decent starting pitcher in Jordan Montgomery, as the twenty-nine-year-old had put up a 3.69 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts over 114 innings for the Yankees this season. He also had a 3-3 record to go along with that.

Since coming to St. Louis, however, Jordan Montgomery has been on a different level.
In three starts for his new team, Montgomery has thrown a shining 0.54 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a 17:3 K/BB ratio over 16 innings. Oh, and he's also posted a 3-0 record in those starts, that's as many wins in three starts for the Cardinals as he had in 21 starts for the Yankees this season.

The Yankees' acquisition, Harrison Bader, has yet to make an appearance with his new club. He is progressing well in his recovery from an injury and should be able to help the Yankees down the stretch.

Since the trade went down, the Yankees have a record of 9-17, while the Cardinals have a record of 15-7.

Safe to say, Cardinals fans are happy about this trade.
