Royals Recall Starter

The Kansas City Royals are in need of a starter for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As a result, the club has recalled starter Jonathan Heasley from Triple-A Omaha.

At this time of year, you always hope a team out of playoff contention will recall a top prospect to give them a taste of major league action, but that won't happen this time.

Heasley returns to the Royals, having last pitched for the club on Aug. 9th against the Chicago White Sox. In that start, he pitched five innings of two-run baseball while striking out five.

He returns to his MLB ERA of 5.61, a 1.56 WHIP and 46 strikeouts over 61 innings. He has an ugly 1-7 record in 13 games started this season.

In the minors, the twenty-five-year-old hasn't been too much better, throwing 39 innings with an ERA of 4.35, a 1.14 WHIP and 45 strikeouts. He's started nine games and posted a 1-2 record.

It will likely be another minimum stay with the Royals for Jonthan Heasley.
