Rangers DFA 12-Year Veteran

It's been a rough season for 12-year veteran right-hander Garrett Richards. His time with the Texas Rangers is now done.

Richards was designated for assignment by the Rangers, after allowing runs in 6 of his last 7 relief appearances, and posting an overall 5.27 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP. It was Richards' first and only season in Texas, who signed him as a free agent to a one-year, $4.5M deal.

The 34-year-old had been a starter throughout most of his career, until appearing in 22 games out of the bullpen for the Boston Red Sox last season.

Richards has a career ERA of 3.87 with 1.30 WHIP. His best years came with the Los Angeles Angels from 2013-2018.

The Rangers have had a busy day, also saying goodbye to their long-time president of baseball operations Jon Daniels, just two days after firing manager Chris Woodward.
