Pirates Recall Rookie Starter

The twenty-two-year-old electric young starter is back up in the majors.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled starter Roansy Contreras from Triple-A to start in Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

Contreras was sent back to Triple-A Indianapolis last month in an effort to monitor his workload. He's been very effective in the minors this season, throwing a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 46 strikeouts over 34 innings.

In his MLB debut this season, Contreras has carried over that minor league success, posting a solid 3.78 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 50 strikeouts over 50 innings.

He was regarded as one of the top pitching prospects entering the 2022 season.
