Orioles Option Pitcher

It was a brief stay in the majors for him.

The Baltimore Orioles have optioned pitcher Louis Head to Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles claimed Head off waivers from the Miami Marlins back on July 12, but he's only pitched five innings for the club. In those five games and five innings, Head has been solid, posting a 1.80 ERA and three strikeouts. He, however, has allowed six hits and four walks in those innings, amounting to an ugly 2.00 WHIP, which is not going to cut it in the majors.

Prior to being picked up by the Orioles, Head had pitched for the Marlins this season. The thirty-two-year-old was a disaster in Miami, throwing a 7.23 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 23 innings.

This is just Head's second season in the majors, as last season he played with the Tampa Bay Rays, posting a strong 2.31 ERA in 35 innings. However, the Rays have a knack at developing talent in seemingly impossible cases, so maybe this success was limited just to Tampa Bay for Louis Head.
