Mets Starter Sent Back to Triple-A After Another Solid Outing

The New York Mets have shipped him back to Triple-A Syracuse again.

The Mets sent starter David Peterson back to Triple-A after pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the powerful Atlanta Braves lineup on Saturday.

The twenty-six-year-old left-handed pitcher has been great for the Mets this season, throwing a 3.30 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a very strong 91 strikeouts across 79 innings.

However, with Jacob DeGrom back, there's just no spot in the rotation for him right now. Rather than use him sparingly out of the bullpen, the Mets want him to maintain his start schedule which he can do at the Triple-A level.

If any Mets starter gets injured down the stretch, Peterson will assuredly get the call back up and, given the injury track record of some of the Mets starting pitchers, there's a good chance that might be sooner rather than later.
