Mariners Prospect Furious About His Treatment By Team

After a couple of seasons of a very rough indoctrination to the majors, and multiple trips back to the minors, Seattle Mariners' former top prospect Jarred Kelenic has taken a swing at his organization, by wiping his social media clean of any affiliation with the team.

Kelenic has removed all Mariners-affiliated posts from his Instagram, as well as unfollowing the team. The 22-year-old was was sent back down to Triple-A three weeks ago for the second time this season, and is off to a horrendous start to his career. In his rookie season in 2021, coming in as a much-ballyhooed top prospect, he hit .181 with a .615 OPS and 106 strikeouts in 93 games.

This year, he's bottomed out even more, hitting just .124 across 40 games, with an equally dreadful .452 OPS. Why he's angry with the Mariners, at this point, is unclear.

Seattle fans are falling on both sides of the ledger, some for him, some against.

By the way, in Triple-A this year, Kelenic is hitting .288 with a robust .903 OPS, with 14 HR and 54 RBIs in just 70 games.
